Oven and Range Repair Questions
One burner will not light but the others do. What is it?
On a gas range that is usually a clogged burner port, a failed igniter for that position, or a spark module fault. On electric it is typically the element itself or the infinite switch controlling it. Because the other burners work, the supply and main board are almost certainly fine, which makes it a contained, affordable repair.
My burner is stuck on high heat. Is that dangerous?
Yes, treat it as urgent. A burner that will not modulate usually means a failed infinite switch or a shorted relay on the control board, and it will keep applying full power regardless of the knob. Stop using that burner and call us.
The oven runs cold or takes forever to preheat.
Most often a failed temperature sensor feeding the board bad data, a weakening bake element, or a door seal letting heat escape. All three are testable on site, and all three are routine repairs.
Everything died right after I ran the self-clean cycle.
That is a well-known failure pattern. Self-clean runs the cavity extremely hot, and the heat commonly takes out a thermal fuse or the control board. It is repairable, and it is why we generally suggest cleaning ovens manually.
Do you repair induction cooktops?
Yes. Induction units have their own failure modes around the coils, inverter boards and cooling fans, and they require different diagnostics from radiant electric. We service them regularly, including Bosch, Thermador and Cafe.
I can smell gas when I turn on a burner. What should I do?
Turn the appliance off, do not use it, and if the smell is strong leave the house and call your gas utility first. That is a safety matter ahead of an appliance repair. Once the situation is safe, call us and we will diagnose the valve or connection.
