Questions

Refrigerator Repair Questions

That pattern almost always points to airflow rather than refrigeration. The evaporator coil ices over, the fan can no longer push cold air into the fresh food compartment, and the freezer keeps working because it sits right next to the coil. The underlying cause is usually a failed defrost heater, thermostat or control board. It is a very common and very fixable fault.

It depends on the age, the brand and what failed. A control board or defrost fault on a five-year-old unit is almost always worth fixing. A failed compressor on a twelve-year-old budget fridge usually is not. We give you the honest arithmetic on site and you decide.

Federal law requires EPA Section 608 certification to handle refrigerant. Without it, a technician legally cannot open your sealed system to fix a leak, replace a compressor or recharge the unit. We hold that certification, which is why we can repair refrigeration faults that other companies have to refer out or write off as unrepairable.

Yes, including Sub-Zero, Thermador, Viking and panel-ready built-ins. These units are engineered to be serviced rather than replaced, so a repair is very often the right call on them.

Most common repairs are finished in one visit, typically within an hour or two. Sealed-system work takes longer because refrigerant has to be recovered, the repair made, the system evacuated and then recharged properly. We will tell you which situation you are in before we start.

Almost never. Ice makers fail on their own all the time, usually the module, the water inlet valve, or a frozen fill tube. It is one of the most straightforward repairs we do.
