When the Laundry Stops Mid-Cycle

- Drum fills but will not spin or agitate
- Water left standing in the drum after the cycle
- Leaking onto the floor during fill or drain
- Machine shakes violently or walks across the floor
- Cycle stops partway and will not resume
- Error code on the display and the door locked shut
- Loud grinding, thumping or squealing while spinning
- Will not start at all, or the door will not lock

Washer Repair Questions
My washer will not drain. Is that expensive to fix?
Usually not. The overwhelming majority of no-drain faults come down to a blocked pump filter, an obstruction in the drain pump, or a failed pump. All three are quick, inexpensive repairs. It is one of the most satisfying calls we get because the fix is often immediate.
Why does my front loader shake and move across the floor?
Either the load is genuinely unbalanced, the machine is not level, or the suspension components have worn out. On front loaders the shock absorbers and spring assemblies wear gradually, so the shaking creeps up over months. Left alone it eventually destroys the bearings, which is a far bigger repair, so it is worth catching early.
There is a burning smell when it spins. Should I keep using it?
No. Stop using it and call us. A burning smell usually means a slipping belt, a seizing bearing or an overheating motor. Continuing to run it turns a moderate repair into a replacement.
My washer has an error code. Does that tell you what is broken?
It narrows it down, but codes point to a symptom rather than a cause. An LE or 5E tells us the machine is unhappy about motor or drainage, not which component failed. We use the code as a starting point and then actually test the circuit. Have the code ready when you call. It helps us bring the right parts.
Do you repair all-in-one washer dryer combo units?
Yes. Combination units are more complex than a standard pair because one drum handles both functions, but we service them routinely, including the stacked and compact models common in condos.
How long do washing machines usually last?
Ten to thirteen years is typical with normal use. If yours is inside that window, a repair is almost always the better financial decision than replacing it.
